The gist

Strong, long-standing evidence as a topical skin-remodeling agent — firmness, collagen, wrinkles. The injected "whole-body" use is far less studied.

A peptide that declines with age

GHK is a natural three-amino-acid peptide that binds copper to form GHK-Cu. Your body's levels of it drop substantially as you get older — part of why it became interesting as a skin-repair agent.

What it does to skin

Decades of work — much of it by Loren Pickart, who discovered the peptide — show GHK-Cu boosts collagen and elastin production, attracts repair cells, calms inflammation, and supports new blood vessels.

Controlled studies on aged skin found it tightened skin and improved elasticity and firmness, while reducing fine lines, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. It's also been linked to better hair-transplant outcomes and larger hair follicles.

Topical vs injected

Here's the key distinction: most of the strong evidence is topical — serums and creams applied to the skin, working locally. The injectable, whole-body use that shows up in peptide circles is a much bigger leap, with far less direct research behind it.

Bottom line

As a topical skin-remodeling ingredient, GHK-Cu is one of the better-supported peptides out there. As an injectable for systemic effects, the evidence thins out fast.
