CJC-1295: the long-acting growth-hormone lever

Why CJC-1295 keeps growth hormone elevated for days, not minutes — and what the one key human study actually showed.

The gist

A GHRH analog engineered to last. A 2006 human study showed it raised GH and IGF-1 for days per dose. Real pharmacology — but human data is thin and dated.

What makes it long-acting

Natural GHRH — the signal that tells your pituitary to release growth hormone — is cleared from the blood in minutes. CJC-1295 was engineered to latch onto albumin, a carrier protein in your blood, which dramatically extends its half-life. One dose keeps the signal going for days.

The human study

In a 2006 trial in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, a single injection of CJC-1295 raised average growth hormone 2–10× for six days or more, and IGF-1 (growth hormone's downstream marker) 1.5–3× for over a week. Its half-life landed around 6–8 days, and no serious adverse reactions were reported at the studied doses.

An earlier paper had identified the albumin-binding trick that makes it last — clean, well-characterized pharmacology.

What we don't know

That single result is most of the human story. There's little long-term data on body composition, performance, or safety with repeated real-world use — and it's commonly stacked with a separate peptide like ipamorelin, a combination the foundational study didn't test.

Bottom line

The mechanism is real and was cleanly shown in humans: CJC-1295 reliably raises GH and IGF-1 for days. The gap is everything after that — long-term outcomes and safety are barely studied.
